Partnering with India’s Largest English Newspaper Group to Build Personal Branding Awareness Among Students

Preparing Students to Stand Out in an Increasingly Competitive World

Today’s students are entering a job market that is more competitive than ever before. Academic qualifications and technical skills remain important, but they are no longer enough to guarantee opportunities.

Increasingly, employers and institutions are looking for individuals who can communicate their strengths, demonstrate confidence, and create a memorable professional identity.

Recognising this need, one of India’s largest and most influential newspaper groups launched a nationwide awareness initiative across schools and colleges. As part of this initiative, students are being introduced to practical life skills that can positively impact their future careers and personal development.

We were brought in to design and deliver the personal branding component of this initiative.

Challenge

Most students spend years developing knowledge and acquiring qualifications, yet very few are taught an equally important question:

What makes you stand out?

Many students struggle to:

  • Identify their unique strengths and qualities
  • Articulate who they are and what they stand for
  • Project confidence and credibility
  • Build a positive professional identity
  • Develop the mindset required for long-term growth and success

The need was clear: create an engaging program that could help students begin thinking intentionally about their personal brand and future aspirations.

Our Approach

We designed a practical and highly interactive learning experience focused on helping students understand that personal branding is not about self-promotion. It is about becoming aware of one’s strengths and learning to communicate them effectively.

Discovering Their Unique Identity

Students are guided to:

  • Identify their strengths, values, and interests
  • Understand what differentiates them from others
  • Recognise the importance of authenticity

Learning to Project Their Personal Brand

Students participated in mock interview sessions where they received guidance on:

  • Structuring responses
  • Communicating ideas with clarity and confidence
  • Handling common interview questions
  • Demonstrating professionalism
  • Using effective body language and nonverbal communication

Building a Vision for the Future

Students are encouraged to:

  • Think about where they want to reach
  • Define long-term aspirations
  • Understand how present actions influence future
  • Develop greater self-awareness and intentionality

Developing a Growth Mindset

Students learn:

  • The importance of continuous learning
  • How to view challenges as opportunities
  • Why adaptability is essential in a rapidly changing world
  • How confidence is built through action and self-development

The Role of Body Language

One of the distinguishing features of this initiative is the integration of body language and nonverbal communication.

Students discover that their personal brand is not communicated only through words. It is also shaped by:

  • Posture and presence

  • Facial expressions

  • Eye contact

  • Confidence cues

  • Professional behaviour

  • Practice consistency

These insights often become powerful moments of self-discovery because students realise that personal branding begins long before they enter a job interview.

Delivery Across India

The initiative is being delivered through a combination of:

Through this project, the focus is on creating awareness and equipping students with practical frameworks that they can immediately apply in their academic and personal journeys.

It reflects a growing recognition that students need more than academic knowledge. They need self-awareness, confidence, communication skills, and the ability to present themselves effectively in an increasingly crowded and competitive world.
